Guardlane works when both sides can trust each other. These guidelines set out what that means in practice.
Everyone
- Treat people with respect. Harassment, discrimination, threats and abuse aren't tolerated.
- Be honest in shift listings, shift records, ratings and reports.
- Protect other people's personal information. Don't share site details, security arrangements or anyone's data outside the job.
- Never retaliate against someone for a rating or a safety report.
Officers
- Only accept shifts you're licensed and qualified for.
- Turn up on time, or cancel as early as you can if you can't.
- Record check-ins, patrols and welfare checks accurately. Never confirm a checkpoint you didn't visit.
- Follow site instructions and the escalation path.
Providers
- Describe every shift accurately, including real conditions and pay.
- Give officers a proper briefing and an escalation contact who can be reached.
- Make sure the site is safe to work, with access to shelter, toilets and drinking water.
- Pay correctly and on time.
Reporting a safety or conduct concern
If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999 first.
For anything else that's unsafe or inappropriate, use the private safety report in the app and choose how serious it is: concern, urgent or critical. Safety reports:
- Are kept private and seen only by the people who need to handle them
- Are never shown as a public rating
- Are separate from ratings, so reporting a problem doesn't affect your own score
Ratings
Rate the specific shift, honestly. Ratings used to punish, pressure or retaliate may be removed. You can ask us to review a rating you believe is unfair.
When guidelines are broken
Depending on what happened, we may give a warning, remove content, restrict an account or close it. Serious matters may be passed to the relevant authorities. We won't restrict someone's ability to work based only on an automated decision or a single rating without a human review, and you can ask us to review a decision that affects you.
