Terms of use

Last updated 13 September 2026

Draft policy. This document describes how Guardlane is designed to work and is awaiting legal review before public launch. It may change before then. Questions: info@visuosofts.com.

These terms apply when you use Guardlane, operated by Guardlane (operating company to be confirmed) ("Guardlane", "we"). By creating an account you agree to them.

1. What Guardlane is

Guardlane is a marketplace that connects security officers with security companies, contractors and site operators ("providers") who need shifts covered, and records how those shifts are worked. Guardlane is not a party to the engagement between an officer and a provider, is not an employer or employment agency for officers, and does not guarantee that any shift, hours or income will be available.

2. Accounts

  • You must give accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity on your account.
  • One person or organisation per account. Don't share accounts.

3. Officers

  • You must hold the licences and qualifications a shift requires, including the appropriate SIA licence for licensable roles in the UK, and must have the right to work.
  • Only accept shifts you intend and are able to work.
  • Record check-ins, welfare checks, patrols and tasks honestly. Falsifying a shift record is a serious breach of these terms.

4. Providers

  • Describe each shift accurately, including duties, requirements, pay, site conditions and cancellation terms.
  • You're responsible for the terms of each engagement and for your legal obligations, including licensing, insurance, right-to-work checks, health and safety, and paying for work performed.
  • Provide officers with adequate briefing, site instructions and an escalation contact.

5. Payments

Where payments are made through Guardlane, they're processed by our payment provider and are subject to its terms. Payment timelines show the status of each shift. Disputed payments may be held while a dispute is reviewed.

6. Ratings and reports

Ratings must be honest and based on the shift in question. Don't use ratings to retaliate, harass or pressure anyone. Safety and conduct concerns belong in a private safety report, not a rating. We may review, correct or remove ratings and content that breach these terms or our community and safety guidelines.

7. Not an emergency service

Welfare checks, alerts and incident reports support, but do not replace, emergency services, site command structures or your own procedures. In an emergency, call 999.

8. Suspension and closure

We may restrict or close accounts that breach these terms, put people at risk, or are used fraudulently. We won't stop anyone working based solely on an automated decision or a single rating without human review, and you can ask us to review a decision that affects you.

9. Liability

We work to keep Guardlane accurate and available but can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you other rights.
